Safeguarding

We are committed to making St Thomas a safe place for all including children, survivors of domestic abuse and adults at risk.

Below are answers to any questions you might have about how we are doing this.

Where can I find your safeguarding policy?

As a Church of England church, we follow the statutory policy of the Church of England. This has been formally approved by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and a physical copy is available in the church office.

Who do I talk to about safeguarding?

If you think a child or adult is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, you should call the police on 999.

Safeguarding is a responsibility of the whole congregation. However, you can contact any of the following:

Safeguarding Officer, Oluchi Ejiaku: 0207 234 8108

Fr William Campbell-Taylor: 0207 234 8108

Where else can I go for help?

Diocese of London Safeguarding Helpline: 020 7932 1224

Childline: 0800 1111

Family Lives: 0808 800 2222

Project 31:8 Helpline: 0303 003 1111

NSPCC Helpline: 0808 800 5000

What are you doing to keep people safe?

We have adopted a safer recruiting policy, in which all staff and volunteers are DBS checked and safeguarding trained. Our children’s groups are registered whenever children are not with their parents or guardians. We regularly update and follow the guidance of the Church of England and the House of Bishops.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
— Proverbs 31:8-9
